Answers: I like Stryer. The record is pretty easy to follow for someone training themselves. it is authoratative and easily available within a good library or by interlibrary loan. If you capture it through a library and find that it is useful to you, and the one you want to own, afterwards it is worth paying for. Any decent medical biochemistry quotation or text is going to be expensive. Used ones work for most of us freshly as well as exotic ones :)
