Plantar Fasciitis Question?
Answer:
I did a podcast on plantar fasciitis:

What I learned about it while researching it for my podcast is this:
Try stretching exercises
Get good supportive shoes, and change them often
See a podiatrist for orthotics (shoe inserts), possibly cortisone injections, possibly surgery, if all else fails
Hope you feel better soon.
Try combining physiotherapy with pilates and get your lower back checked in case you also have spinal problems making the other problem worse! Do you also get a stiff back or any hip pain?
What therapy are you doing?
Dont "pound the pavement" try a treadmill or just extra long walks and avoid hills and stairs!
If it's ok with your doctor you can try massge. You can do it yourself or go to a massage therapist. All you have to do is take your own foot and leg and massage them gently. This should help.
Has your doctor said anything about cortisone shots? The cortisone is injected directly into the area that is inflamed, which will reduce the inflammation almost immediately. This will allow you to do the physical therapy you need to keep the inflammation down permanently.
Plantar fascitis can be tricky, but the best thing for it is stretching the foot and massage. Stretch the heal by sitting with your leg straight in front of you and pull your toes toward you. This will also stretch the achilles tendon. You might want to look into a professional massage therapist, but you can also use one of those at-home spa foot baths for everyday use. The hot water will relax the muscles in your foot, while you massage your heal and ankle.
