If you achieve bit by a deer tick, what's the best treatment - type of antibiotic, amount and duration?
Answers: I've had Lyme twice - saw the impetuous both times, thank goodness.
The first time I took doxycycline, something like twice the normal dose for 30 days. It made me sick as a dog and I get a photosensitivity reaction, but no further Lyme symptoms. The over-hasty, which was on my knees, turned purple and looked awful, but that was the extent of it.
The second time, I took Amoxicillin for a month. Again, no further symptoms.
MOST physicians tend to underestimate the damage that Lyme can do, but I've prearranged people who be devastated by it. That's why I didn't fool around, and took as much antibiotic as I could handle.

If you KNOW you've been bitten and you're within an area where on earth Lyme is prevalent, it's a good conception to take at tiniest a short course of antibiotics. If you wait for the arthritis, it's tough to treat effectively. Just my $0.02.
I never used anything on my tick bites. I removed the tick next to a bit of alcohol and then a short time ago left it. I wasn't aware you be supposed to put ointments or anything on them, and I've be 'bitten' dozens of times.
