Should MRI TECHS be allowed to do x-ray??
Answer:
I agree with WWD. Most MRI techs start out as x-ray techs. As long as their radiologic license are current, why shouldn't they do x-ray exams? I work in a free standing imaging facility. My primary pasture is MRI, but when co-workers are out sick or on vacation, I still do x-ray or CT scan or DEXA. Nobody can do x-rays without mortal licensed in that paddock. It is illegal....
Not lacking training. Radiation exposure is a very serious event.
Is this hypothetical or what? I'm an xray tech and I definitely don't presume MRI techs should be able to do regular xray, unless they go to school for it and are still registered to do so. Besides they already engineer enough money, why try and lug my job too!
I ponder you'll be hard pressed to find an MR tech who didn't start out as an RRT, so the question's expected moot.
Check if the person taking the x-ray are ARRT registered,
most MRI technologist are. The MRI corral is an attachment
of the radiology schools. I am both registered as a MRI technologist and a Radiographer, have spent more than 15 years taking x-rays in principal hospital I would be more than qualified to take a chest x-ray.
