That's a tough one, because no one remedy works for everyone.
As far as a preventative, near are a few. Verapamil works for me.
To stop one, some people use oxygen pumped at 12 - 16 lpm. Others use Imitrex or one of the other triptan medication.

Addendum: to those who utter to lie surrounded by a dark room and pocket aspirin...bad suggestion. Lying in a night room is what you do for migraines, not cluster headaches. Too much aspirin is unpromising, as it can cause stomach problems. Avoid it.
True cluster headache make it impossible to lie back down...you actually tend to gait and some even bang their head against the floor or wall in twinge. Darkness makes no difference. If you truly hold CH, contact your doctor and see your neurologist. You can't treat it like a migraine.
