British GP's make almost as much as US house physicians. Overall, US physicians have sophisticated incomes, but for most specialties it's not much different when you adjust for hours worked. Some, especially in surgical specialties, are much better compensated within the US.

Not singular do we make more, but the standard of living here contained by the US is a bit better. I've never worked in the UK, but I gain the impression that we put contained by a few more hours than they do. I could be wrong, though.
I do know that my relatives in the UK receive strictness that would never be tolerated here in the US. My father-in-law have a bladder catheter for almost a year while waiting for his prostate procedure. He could have gone private for the equivalent of nearly $8000, but didn't have the money to do so. In the US, he'd enjoy had his procedure in a week or two, tops, and Medicare would have covered it.
