Where does the digestion of proteins initiate?
Answer:
Stomach
I guess in small intestine.
digestion overall begin in the mouth. but for proteins
"The subsequent set of digestive glands is in the stomach inside layer. They produce stomach acid and an enzyme that digests protein."
"An enzyme contained by the juice of the stomach starts the digestion of swallowed protein. Further digestion of the protein is completed contained by the small intestine."
so the stomach
Stomach.
This is due to the release of pepsinogen(inactive form of pepsin) by Chief cells and the release of HCL(hydrochloric acid) by Parietal Cells. In the presence of HCL; pepsinogen is converted to Pepsin. Pepsin breaks down proteins.
The charge of the digestive system to the stomach is:
1. mouth- only chemical digestion adjectives here is via salivary amylase which begins carbohydrate digestion. no other chemical digestion take place in the mouth.
2.pharynx-no digestion; one and only swallowing
3.esophagus- also no digestion; only swallowing
4.stomach-pepsin for protein digestion; also gastric lipase to start off fat digestion
