I think that cloning of animals is pleasing for medical research but not for eating. I come up with cloning humans is wrong in every possible respect.
I surmise that genetic modification on humans is wrong. I also think it's wrong to do it to animals if we are going to get through them. I think that splicing genes from another species into humans and animals is wrong but I deduce it's acceptable for plants.
The most prominent thing is that we should not be doing anything to the genes of humans or cause any suffering to human or animals. And we should not be doing anything to food that we eat or doing stuff to the food of the animals that we get through.

Yeah if it is making spare parts, but cogitate what a clone would be like mentally. "It" would own no family apart from a few lab rats, no kin no history, newly man made. Pretty bleak.

if the objective is to clone unharmed animals I have my doubts

how hazardous is cloning... I dont actaully know, but there is sufficent evidence that cloning may challenge a gene pool (especially if sepcific genes are not recognised as harmfull at tthe time of cloning)
however lets be convincing, some organisms on this planet do clone themselves, some plants, aphids and the like, so its not other a problem.
effectively plant growers are cloning plants (by taking cuttings)

i reason that therapeutic cloning is OK... for example growing a kidney for someone that have a kidney failure. however that would require a stem cell which comes from an embryo, so it would depend on ur belief on stem cell research.
