What is the best over- the-counter sour reducer?
Answer:
Prilosec OTC.
Prilosec is like as the one we use in drug. It is Proton Pump Inhibitor, which is the strongest class of medication for acid supression - reducing tart production by up to 90%. At 20 mg, it is somewhat lower dose, but it is the strongest OTC medication for acid.
Pepcid, Zantac, Tagamet are adjectives Histamine 2 Blocker, which is weaker. It only blocks almost 40-50 percent of acid production. They are well-mannered for mild to mmoderate cases, but definitely not as strong as Prilosec OTC.
Tums and Roalid and antacids are only chemicals that neutralizes tart. They are fast acting - hastily reverse the acid, but they also disappear from the system in a flash, so you end up have to take them adjectives the time for severe cases.
I like pepcid complete, it have always worked for me.
I haven't really studied it, but I believe that Prilosec stops your body from making as much stomach acerbic. The rest "absorb" the acid within your stomach.
If you have an occasional problem the incorporation method works well ample. If its a fairly constant problem, I'd recommend Prilosec.
I am not a doctor. I can recommend prilosec as someone who have taken it for years.
It does take a few days to start have an effect though. So be patient.
And as you would expect you should try to control the problem with diet first.
agree beside j... prilosec otc... also one of the least expensive.
