What type of doctor is House on the t.v. show?

What type of doctor is house? And, is he a primary care physicial (PHP) or a research doctor?


Answers:    He is a certified diagnostician next to a double specialty of infectious disease and nephrology. I believe he is a PHP, because he doesn't seem to do any research on the show.
