Is at hand a device that possibly considered indispensable contained by the workplace self a nurse?

if there is, what are its functions and why would it be detrimental if you don't enjoy this device?

Answer:
Better access when calling doctors (from the hospital) for an order. If someone requests something badly resembling more pain meds, sometimes you hold to wait for hours on running out for them to call hindmost.
I would vote for bedpans as the most indispensible device for a nurse, for obvious reason. Other devices to consider would be safety needles, nurse christen buttons and alarms, and back braces. Back injuries are the number 1 reported workers comp claim among nurses.
The pen is the single most critical entity. If it isn't documented, you didn't do it. Having a pen and using it can be the difference between being sued and losing your license or have your documentation speak for what you did as an accurate record of what really happen. Even though computer charting is often used in a minute, the pen is still vital.

For me, as a Respiratory Therapist, I believe that the stethoscope is very influential. So many problems can be sorted out by listen to the lungs. Without a pen, I would be in trouble though.
thermometers, blood pressure cuffs .. their functions are clear. without them you couldn't monitor properly.

nurse nickname buttons are high on the enumerate also. cardiac monitors and iv pumps are way up here too.

if the workplace has more than one floor... an elevator.
i would vote another nurse. my answer is based on working as a nurse and the shortage of upright, empathetic nurses in the profession today.
Basic equipment is essential - thermometer, a scrutinize, O2 sats monitor, spygmometer (obviously a pen!). I am also using a PDA now which I am finding invaluable - I've get a drugs database on it (MIMS) as well as a Diseases/disorder program and other programs such as clinical procedures. Its really cool!
