Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic disease, meaning it affects the entire body. The inflammatory process can also occur surrounded by other parts of the body. RA can cause anemia and affect the nerves. Scleritis, an inflammation of the blood vessel in the eye can materialize. The heart and lungs may also be affected.
