I was prescribed a short acting Penicillin (PVK) for an infection and have been taking it 4 times on a daily basis . On the 9th day around 9pm still on the penicillin I be given a 1time dose of 5mg of methadone with no unmistakable side affects and hardly notice I had taken any. On the 10th daytime I took 2 more doses of my Penicillin for the first half of the morning as prescribed, and just earlier my third dose for the day at 9pm I notice hiving rashes around my underwear stripe accompanied by lots of itching, so I stopped the penicillin emediately. Turned out I have a severe allergic reaction, when I woke the subsequent day go to the hospital, was injected near steroids and epinephrin for the severe abdominal pain and swelling,and put on an IV. I own taken opioids before next to no problem, but knowing how strong and how long methadone can last, I am curious if it be a reaction to the methadone? I doubt it because adjectives the symptoms are more common near alergy to penicillin,but am still curious on any feedback TY

Was the one dose of methadone injected? If so, I would bet on the penicillin, since you would have promptly metabolized the pain meds. Or possibly it was a combination of those two.
You're describing a rather classic penicillin reaction; you should be in no doubt that your allergy is noted in your medical and pharmacy documents, and wear a medic-alert bracelet.
An allergic reaction is not going to move depending on the allergen - you're going to get indistinguishable reaction whether it be the penicillin or the methadone.
You're more likely to be allergic to the penicillin, but you can't know for sure unless you own allergy testing (which I recommend).
