If there are 4 weeks to a month why is there 52 weeks to a year when it should be 48 weeks?
Answer:
There is only one month with 4 weeks and that is Feb. That is only if its not a leap year. All the rest have 4 week 2 days or 4 weeks 3 days. Which i'm sure you must of realised. But the moon takes 4 weeks from full moon to full moon.
cause there is four weeks and a bit to a month.
Because some months have more than 28 days...but of course you knew that.
Because a month is not measured by weeks...its measured by the phases of the moon.
it not four weeks to a month only February the rest are 30 days or 31
did you really have to ask this? did you really??
theyre all not exactly 4 weeks .. 4 weeks is 28 days... thats why
Thirteen luner cycles to a year.
some months have 5 weeks, not all months have 4. Look at your calendar.
because most months have 31 or 30 days in them which is 2-3 more days than the amount of days in 4 weeks. After 11 months these extra days add up to about 4 extra weeks
Because a month isn't 4 weeks, it's 4 and a bit. And we save up the bits and shove em to the end of the year to make it last a bit longer cos we're always complaining that time flies by too fast and hasn't the year flown by? Can't believe it's been so long since Christmas! We're it all gone!
It was a nice idea but it didn't work, but now we're stuck with all these lost bits of weeks and have to put up with them hanging around in December so as not to hurt their feelings.
There aren't exactly 4 weeks to a month; sometimes more.
the lunar period is 28 days, don't listen to that guy. Look at the gregorian calendar.
Because except for February (in a non leap year) every month is longer than 28 days. Those extra days add up.
coz not all months are 28 days
not all months are the same . 52 weeks in a year is correct.
There are not exactly four weeks in a month. Count it!
And the reason that we have leap years is because a year is 364 and 1/4 days long... random info lol.
the modern months are designed to keep the calender accurate that is why their are leap years a month is not generally 4 weeks (21days) but 4.3 weeks (30.33days) and a year is 51.6 days on average that is why pope Gregory(i think I'm right there)changer the calender and added the leap year we also have leap seconds as days are not exactly 24 hours.
A year is the approximate time that it takes the earth to orbit the sun (and must be adjusted every four years during leap year to be more nearly correct). A month (where month stems from moon) is the approximate time it takes the moon to orbit the earth going through all its phases from new moon to new moon. A week is seven days based on 7 rotations of the earth. Therefore, an exact week, month and year depend upon the motion of heavenly bodies that man can only approximate to make calendars and appointments, etc.
Let's explain it this way:
>> 7 days make a week.
>> A month has either 30 days,31 days or 28/29 days.
>>Obviously, whatever is the number of days in every month, you can complete only 4 weeks thus we use to say a month has 4 weeks.
>> That 4 weeks in a month is composed of 28 days only and there are remaining 2 days ( in months of Sept.,April,June and Nov.) or 3 remaining days (in months of Jan.,March,May,Jul.,Aug., Oct.,Dec.).
>>The total remaining days are all 8+21=29 days. That would make another 4 weeks and an extra day.
>> The 4 weeks made up out of the extra days + the monthly count of 48 weeks make the 52 weeks. Thus a year has 52 weeks and a day or two extra.
A shortcut of calculating the number of weeks per year is dividing the total number of days by 7. (365 or 366 divided by 7 will give you 52 and an extra day or two.)
The cycle of a month is based on the orbit of the moon. Actually it is simpler to think of there being 4.33 weeks in a month, because some months have 5 weeks, but if you average it, it comes out to 4.33 weeks in a month (i.e. 52/12= 4.333333).
Because some months, like this one, have five weeks in them.
there is only exactly 4 weeks in February the rest are 4 weeks and a couple days
January 31days
February 28 days (29 on leap years)
March - 31 days
April -30 days
May - 31 days
June - 30 days
July - 31 days
August - 31 days
September - 30 days
October- 31 days
Novemeber - 30 days
December - 31 days
52>48 weeks
there are 365.242199+1 day each leap year divide how many days in a week and get 52.32031414 and that equals 52 weeks.
You can get your laugh on now because I am going to answer this one...
There is merely one month (February) that harbors 28 days (which is how many days each would solely need in order to make up a 48 week year), the remaining 11 months have two to three days that follow 28. If you add up the "extra" days that do show their faces, voila........ we have 52 weeks!!!
4 x 7 = 28
29 days of all moths that have 30 or 31 days
so 29 divided by 7 = 4
AND 48 + 4 = 52 weeks in a year
BUT it would be easier if you just divide 365 by 7 = 52.14
There are not 4 weeks in a month!
Simple as that.
