Do you think height can be predicted?

1.Do you think that height can be predicted exactly?

2.Do think there is a way to increase height/growth naturally?

3.What height do you think someone should be when they just turn 14?

4. How tall were you when you turned 14?

5. How tall are you now and how old are you?

Thank you!

Answer:
Not exactly, but often quite accurately.

Medical growth statistics have been kept by Western pediatricians for decades. They show a strong correlation between the height of the full grown adult and that of the same person at three years of age. Obviously, kids are growing during their third years, so this method of prediction has limitations on its accuracy based on when (during the third year) the height measurements are taken.

We have to throw out statistical anomalies that re caused by long-term health problems, accidents, drastic dietary influences and such. However, once those are removed from the sample data, we see that adults are typically twice the height in adulthood that they were as three-year-olds.

There are a few "natural" ways to increase height. None of them have drastic effects though and you should avoid any hormone therapy, medication or dietary supplement that offers such results.

The best ways to reach your optimal genetically-determined height is to always get plenty of sleep, eat a balanced diet, stay healthy, and avoid physical or emotional trauma.

I saw an interesting experiment at MIT where a physics professor ( Dr, Lewin I believe) actually measured a student while standing and then measured his height while the student was lying down on a table. The student was actually a little bit taller when gravity was not pulling on his frame. This can help explain why plenty of sleep might help people grow to their normal genetically-determined height and why those who constantly stand or sit do not reach their maximum height potential.

I do not remember exactly what heights I was during my 14th year. I am sure however, that I was not of one height during that growth period.

Just as the "double three-year height" method is inaccurate because it cannot specify a certain height within a single year, there can be no specific correlation between the height of a 14 year old and his adult height. The "three year doubling" method would have less problems than any 14-year old prediction though because there is a drastic growth spurt during teenage years caused by radically changing hormones. The influx of growth hormones during puberty is widely and wildly divergent from person to person. As such, any predictions taken from those years are likely to have great statistical anomalies and therefore be unreliable.

If you want to maintain maximum height, stretching, yoga, good diet and plenty of healthful rest are the only natural methods I know.
1 - Height can be predicted using a mathematical formula when a child is around age 18 months. However, this formula doesn't take into account environmental factors, only genetic and body measurements. For example, smoking stunts a person's growth. If you are 5'5" and the formula said you are to be 6', I would think you wouldn't achieve this if you are a smoker, and continue to smoke. As a child, my parents always said, "You are going to be 6'1" tall - the formula says so." But I started smoking at age 15 and am now 29 (#5) and am only 5'9". But I am happy with my height. And, by the way, I quit smoking 107 days ago but its too late to grow any taller.lol
2 - To increase height/growth? Perhaps try a multi vitamin that contains zinc, iron, Vitamin C, E, B6. I wouldn't take prescribed nor over the counter growth hormones, however, because they could affect your reproductive system negatively.
3 - There isn't an average height for 14 year olds. Teen boys and girls are all at different stages of puberty at 14, and these stages will affect that person's height. Some kids will look like 8 year olds at age 14, others will look like they are in their 20s. There is no set height for a 14 year old.
4 - I was probably about 5'6" at age 14, I grew three more inches in the next year and a half before the effects of my smoking stopped my growth.
5 - I answered this in #1.
Hope this helps.
