MCAT oblige!?

Ok all you med students or be med students. Im a little freaked out over the MCat. How doomed to failure was the O-chem subdivision of the test? horrible? fully clad? any advice would be awesome, and i basically dont want to hear that i need to study my butt bad.. i already know that... but is it really that hard that they other gloat about?

It's not *that* bad. I assume the thing that scare students the most is that you're not actually expected to work out everything that the passage-based questions are going on for. They want you to know the basics of o-chem (and it's mixed contained by with biology, don't forget), but they will ask question in the passage on subjects you've never heard of. The question will either oral exam your ability to read and extract information from the passage or to apply the basic concepts to empathy the new information.

The point to remember about the MCAT is that it is FAR more a assessment of your reading comprehension and ability than a science experiment. There is a ton of information handed to you within those passages and surrounded by the question stems. The leading thing is not to hysterics, and remember that you know more than you think you do.

Good luck. *g*
To be honest, I didn't even in truth study for the organic chemistry cubicle (and I wasn't very devout at organic chemistry to inaugurate with). I just didn't own time to get to it and have heard that within recent years they have be reducing the amount of orgo on the exam. This turned out to be true and wasn't even a problem for me. What I might recommend is finding a good solid review book resembling the big Kaplan Comprehensive review book you can buy in a bookstore (don't even bother beside those classes) and just read thru it several times. Focus primarily on the physics, gen. chem, and biology -- the orgo isn't covered as much, but do try to read thru it if you can. Doing the practice test is key - you can find those online at the AAMC website. Do as frequent practice problems as you can and get proficient at working lower than timed conditions. The essay also isn't as important. Good luck, and don't stress too much - of late start early and enjoy a planned out study routine that you stick to for at least an hour a morning for a month or so in mortgage. Remember, repetition is the key to long possession memory. I especially agree with the previous poster - surrounded by many instances, it doesn't trial so much what you know as your ability to read and comprehend science and non-science information.
