What are poppy seeds and why do they show positive in a drug test?
Answer:
Poppy seeds are what the poppy grows from. Poppies are what heroine and other opiates are made from. They test positive because they contain the chemical that the drug test checks for.
Do they?
Well poppy seeds are the seeds of the opium poppy flower, of which opium is made as well as in further processing morphine and heroine.
Check the Mythbusters website. They tested this myth. But I can't remember the result - you'll have to check for yourself.
Those little black seeds on many bagels are poppy seeds.
A poppy is a plant/flower. Poppy, or it's seeds, I don't remember now, are one of the key ingredients in opium.
Needless to say, eating a lot of poppy seeds will then come back as opium in the body.

The poppy seed is a derivative of the poppy plant. The poppy plant is what opiates come from, such as heroin. They show up positive on drug tests for opiates because it is an opiate. It does not get a person "high."
i do not know what they are...but they wont show up unless you eat mass quantities of it
