Validity of measure BMI?
as a GP you encounter an obese(90kg) female who have both COPD and chronic low back throbbing...and you are supposed to measure her BMI?
my cross-question is, why are you measuring her BMI? and what is the legitimacy of measuring it?
Answers: her BMI is an indicator of how obese she is, and size is a major factor surrounded by low back niggle because of the strain of carrying too much weight surrounded by the abdomen. COPD is exacerbated by flabbiness as well because extra rotund around the vital organs make it harder for them to work and supply all that extra tissue next to oxygen and nutrients.
But really, just reducing her body mass will relieve her overall condition, whether you have that BMI contained by numbers or not.
