Does EMT-B cert usually include phlebotomy? What just about EMT-I? Paramedic?
Answers: EMT-B does not include phlebotomy, as it's outside their breathing space of practice. EMT-I and EMT-P both include phlebotomy as part of the curriculum. However, if you're interested surrounded by phlebotomy as a career, you'd be better past its sell-by date taking a phlebotomy course which will certify you in this enclosed space. EMT-I and EMT-P courses will teach you how to start an IV and how to draw blood, but there's deeply more to being a phlebotomist than that (which tubes to draw for what test and in what demand, etc) and the EMT-I and EMT-P courses don't really go into that variety of detail.
Hope this helps...
I'm pretty sure it's included near the training. I work with several EMT's that complete phlebotomy (I work at a blood donation center).
Try contacting a hospital in the nouns that teaches an EMT course, they should be capable of answer that for you. : )
