A Medical Technologist submitted a laboratory result w/o the sign of pathologist in an emergency case.?

should she have waited for the pathologist?

Answer:
An MT does not need to wait for a pathologist to release a result. The only time I can think of waiting for the pathologist to sign off is in the case of a new immature WBC in a blood smear. The pathologists have enough to do in there day without looking over the shoulder of the MTs and MLTs of the lab.
