Are cosmetic surgeons regulated? If so who by?

Is there a register of Comsmetic Surgeons?

Answers:    Yes in that is a register of cosmetic surgeons.I had to google it to find it but it be easy. There is also an International register.IPRAS.I am researching cosmetic surgeons at the moment and in attendance is loads of info on the web.

EDIT.The British Association Of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons
(BAAPS)is the register you are looking for.
In the United States, as far as I know, respectively state has its own medical board that issues medical license and has the authority to discipline doctors. All physicians including cosmetic surgeons are licensed by their state (e.g. Arizona, Colorado, etc.). Maintaining a medical license indicates that, according to the state, the hotelier demonstrates at least the minimum competency requirements to diagnose and treat patients. It say nothing give or take a few practicing any specialty areas of medicine such as plastic surgery or cardiology.

In increase, a physician may or not be board certified. For example, plastic surgeons may or may not be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Even without that citations, he or she may still practice plastic surgery. Board certification is voluntary, not mandatory. A non-board certified plastic surgeon may be an excellent plastic surgeon, but may not desire to obtain board certified.

Some specialties other than plastic surgery, for example dermatologists, also practice cosmetic surgery. Amazingly, however, anyone who have graduated from medical arts school and obtains a state medical license can practice any specialty.

By the instrument, you can go to your state's medical board website and do a hunt for any physician licensed in the state. This will transmit you how long they have practiced, where on earth they were trained, board credentials, if they have have their license suspended or revoked, any disciplinary action, etc.

Note: I am not a physician or an expert within this area. I believe that the above information is accurate, although far from complete.
A diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery would be the gold ingots standard. Many ENT surgeons have excellent credentials within facial reconstruction (more than lately "nose jobs). Oral surgeons next to a DMD or DDS may do excellent cosmetic work. So do some general surgeons.

I am a bit leery of some dermatologists doing cosmetic work, but others do a fine brief. Personally, I would check out the credentials of a doctor who just advertise to be a cosmetic surgeon. He may be self-taught. But there is an American Board of Cosmetic Surgery that certify the competence of its members and promotes standards of training, including standards for dermatologists whom I didn't tight-fisted to disparage.

Cosmetic surgery is a lucrative field. Unfortunately it have its share of bad actor. But you should easily find frequent reputable ones, too. Your doctor should be an excellent source.
