Answer:
15 mg is quite a bit to be given to a newborn. relatives having a heart attack (full grown adults) one and only recieve 2 mg for chest pain.

morphine is commonly used to oblige patients breath easier. decreases the stress nouns on the heart.

i think the dosage you tabled is probably not what was given. would i trust the doctor? yes.

Not the most intelligent answer, aaron lol...
Something is drastically wrong here. Morphine may be used for cough suppression and that is the closest legal medical usage.

This may sound cruel and be approach out of line, but does the kid have any nouns disabilities? Morphine, given in increasing doses, is used to relieve stomach-ache, even at levels where on earth it may cause destruction. You may read that as euthanasia.
15 mg?? That is more than what I give to post-op patients who are ADULTS.

This story is missing something. Why on globe start a baby on morphine? Morphine decrease the respiratory drive.
What was this kid diagnosed with? I hold NEVER heard of this giving of dosage, especially in a newborn! Morphine is sometimes given contained by respiratory distress (yes I know it decreases the respiratory drive) because one of the other things it does is dilates the alveoli within the lungs (it's a vaso-dilator, which is why it drops blood pressure). Our protocols for respiratory distress basically read out (besides the oxygen and an IV) Albuterol updrafts, Lasix (if needed), Decadron IVP, Nitro-Stat (another dilator), and Morphine. I'm not sure why this baby would be given that big of a dose unless it's being used for agony control because of a terminal condition.

that dose is way too much to be giving a newborn. it won't engender him breath any easier- it'll make him stop breathing altogether. i ponder you've got the story wrong. a nurse can't prescribe morphine and the dose is adjectives wrong and the indication is not appropriate.
We can't tell you. All the influential details are missing. But I'm willing to bet it's 15 micrograms a bit than milligrams, the latter being a obedient dose for an adult.
