Dehydration is the far more serious problem. Without water, most people die in several days. Food, you can go much longer. Look up "political fast" for information on how long fasts done in protest have lasted--these people allowed themselves water but no food.
well on average, depending on many factors, such as
what was eating
what was drinking
the environment
your body fat
your metabolism
the rate of urination, like you piss alot or not alot
the amount you usualyy sweat
the environment your in (desert much shorter, rainforest longer)
and some others which im sure you can think of
but on average its 7 days no food, and 3 days no water
Without water - in normal conditions - the adult body will survive for about three days. Add in extreme heat - maybe 1 1/2 - 2 days - but the heat stroke would probably kill you before then.
Without food (but with water source) - an adult can live for about 12 days - but in some cases longer depending on their level of activity, ambient temp., beginning body mass.

Water is more critical for survival. We do not carry a reserve store of water so once you dehydrate sufficiently you will die. In cases where people have to survive in deserts the longest you can go without water is measured in day. Don't forget air, without air you will die in minutes.
