Pharmacology Question?

A drug has 60% absorbtion across gut when given in words, and has hepatic extration ratio of 0.2- what is the bioavailability?
The answer is 48%, but I dont know how to work out the answer, can anyone narrate me or point me to a site that shows me how... thanks :o)

Answers:    bioavailability method how much drug reaches the blood..
so of this 60% to be precise absorbed by the gut, 0.2 of it (68%) is extracted by the liver... that mode that 0.2% of the 68% is removed and will not reach the blood..
0.2% of the 68= 12
so 12% of the 68% will not accomplish the blood but the remaining 48% will do!
(68-12=48)
i hope that helps!
60% is abosrbed by he intestines, but because of the first miss effect, 20 % (0.2) is eliminated. 60% (0.6) x (0.2) = 0.12

0.6 - 0.12 = 0.48 which is 48%
