What do drug/pharma companies do next to expired drugs/medicines?

Suppose a drug/medicine remains unsold. And its last date of taking it go away. Obviously the retailer sends it back to the capitalist.

Now what does the company do with it as it can't be consumed? If manufactrer disposes it rotten, how do they do it?

Any knowledge, if yes please share it.

Answer:
We hold a contract with our Prescription drug supplier to transport them back for a company credit when they expire.

If they do not adopt a particular expired medication, they turn into a special container and are picked up by an incineration company for destruction.

Our supplier has similar procedures to own an incineration company take the expired/damaged meds away for destruction.

Narcotic/controlled drugs are a different story. They hold to have special approval for returns for credit.
You are correct that medicine that are expired are usually returned to the original businessman. The company then destroys the expired product, usually by incineration.
