Still live beside catheter?
Answers: I am female, so.. I be out of it when mine was inserted, so I dont know nearly that, but it did hurt when it was removed. I be in the hosp the unharmed time I had it. I be able to wear panties and pj pant, but they had to be loose fitting. I have a tape lint type thing that kept the tubing close to my leg. It be a lil uncomfortable, it feel better to just wear the hosp gown. I be able to stride around and move about next to no issues though.
The catheter would have to be hooked up to a pouch to collect the urine. This can be within the form of a small bag that get attached to the thigh with a cloth band. This does allow society to walk and move almost, but mobility and freedom of movement would be hindered to some extent. You would have to watch out to avoid yanking it out (which can twist the urethra because there is an inflated balloon on the inside that keep it from sliding out on its own). Also, having a cath greatly increases your risk of getting a urinary tract infection because microbes can travel up the tubing.
