Shadowing a doctor?
Many people said that internship will lead to a path of shadowing a doctor
but how can you get the opportunity to shadow a doctor w/o being an intern.
In addition to that, what do you do when you're shadowing a doctor? are there specific tasks you must do while shadowing? and does it require a background check and stuff just like internship?
Answer:
Pretending to have something that you don't have will be the beginning of NOT getting a chance to shadow someone. You don't fake something to try to get something. Grow up "thatsreallycrazy" or whatever your name is.
Now, the best chance is to ask your primary care doctor about shadowing. S/he may have an idea. It is much more difficult to shadow a doctor because of privacy laws. I wouldn't be surprised if a backgound check was required. There aren't any specific tasks for you to do because you don't know what you are doing. You are there to observe and basically be a fly on the wall.
BTW, an internhip comes AFTER finishing medical school. It is not a way to shadow a doctor because you already are a doctor when you start internship.
Go to the doctor for an illness that you have. For example, if you want to be a gastroenterologist, go in for acid reflux. While you're there, make small talk and somehow segway in there that you want to be a doctor and that they explain things well. That right there should be enough for them to go "hey, you wanna shadow me some time?!" and then you say "ya" and ta-da! There you go! They may ask at some point why your illness miraculously disappeared, which is why it's better for you to actually go when you have something wrong with you (like I did). Okay good luck future doctor!
