Plated shoulder due to crushed humerus bone. ct scan perform 7/11/07. how long customarily to draw from results?
Answer:
Typically a (nonemergency) CT scan should be read contained by about 2 days. The surgeon of course should have the report by presently.
You should call your ortho surgeon's organization and if they still do not have the report, ask them to send for the radiology dept. where the study be performed/read and have them dispatch (or resend) the report. Sometimes reports can be missent or misfiled (on either end). If the study hasn't be read yet, the doctor's bureau, or if necessary, the surgeon him/herself, can flimsy a fire under the radiology dept. and enjoy them prioritize the study.
The radiology department will not tell you the results over the phone (or fax them) due to privacy considerations, but if you give the name them you can clarify whether or when the report has be sent to your surgeon, and ask them to resend it if your surgeon did not receive it.
If the study has fall through the cracks the radiologist will be quick to correct the problem after it is brought to his/her attention. If for some justification there is not a soul available to read the study, the films can be sent over to the ortho surgeon's office (or you can sign them out and bring them over, which is more reliable) and the surgeon can review them him/herself.
No, it doesn't bear 2-3 weeks to get a CT scan read. Typically, it is read inwardly a couple days.
Plus, orthopods tend to like to read their own CT scan so I'm sure that your doctor can figure it out.
I'd suggest you save calling your surgeon until you get an answer. Do you own a follow-up appointment soon?
