Does Lunesta wear past its sell-by date?

I have be taking Lunesta for the past five months at 2mgs something like every two nights. For the recent past two weeks, I have notice that I cannot fall asleep on my own and that Lunesta does not relief me fall asleep. Is here another prescription drug I should ask for instead? I do not consume caffeine 6 hours before 9:00pm crucial time, nor do I drink water three hours up to that time bedtime. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:
First, it seems as though you recognize and practice good sleep hygiene, though you may want to check out the following site:

Second, your behavior is not consistent near addiction, as stated by a previous poster. The terms used to describe a drug's effects "wearing off" are habituation and dependence.

As far as *asking* for another prescription sleep aid, I'd suggest not trying to be your own doctor. By this, I don't imply to criticize; merely I'd just resembling to advise that a professional consultation (e.g. to a sleep disorders specialist) may be of better abet in the long residence if you do in reality suffer from some form of chronic insomnia. You may want to Google or 'Wiki' the term "polysomnogram."

If you hold access to eMedicine (or would like to sign up free at http://www.emedicine.com ), nearby is an excellent, well-referenced article entitled "insomnia" (under the specialty heading "neurology"). I'd read this and ask your primary care physician for a "sleep study" consultation and ask for a different type of non-benzodiazepine sleep aid (a couple are timetabled in the eMedicine article) within the meantime.

I hope this helps.
The more you rely on drugs, the more dependant your body become to the drug. After a while, the amount you take isn't ample to work anymore. That's the definition of an addiction. So addicts lift more, or look for different drugs to get indistinguishable effect.
Have you tried to find the reason you hold trouble sleeping in the first place - if you concordat with the root inflict you wouldn't need drugs.
Try AmbienCR, it's control-released and doesn't donate you loopy like Lunesta.

I also own a hard time falling asleep and tried the contemporary Rozerem, but that leaves me dopey the next morning, too.

I have started working out around 10pm and filch a hot tub soak after my work out and that helps seriously.

Read before bed, try some thaw milk and a cookie, keep trying, you'll hopefully find some respite.

I haven't slept ably for about four years presently and it sucks. My dad and brother have like peas in a pod problem, too. My pops just have a sleep study done at a hospital and I hope to find out what causes his sleep deprivation, perchance sleep apnea? You might want to have indistinguishable thing done.

Good luck and I will you sweet dreams, soon!
