Are antibiotics overprescribed?
I am bitter! I have 2 emergency surgeries, I'm still recovering, and my memory has never be the same as in the past..My neurosurgeon said have I gotten antibiotics it wouldn't hold happened!
Answers: Firstly, congratulations on still one alive because this could have be lethal. Your doctor be probably correct in not prescribing antibiotics on your first pop in because most sore throats in robust young adults are viral and usually capture better by themselves. However as your condition was worsening she should own done some further tests. Sputum analysis and a blood culture would hold been accommodating. Doctors these days are exceedingly conscious of not over prescribing antibiotics because this has contributed to the existence of some markedly antibiotic resistent bugs. They are also reluctant to overorder lots of expensive tests which are commonly unnecesarry. This disease is often call 'the forgotten disease' because it is quite irregular these days but it is a moral lesson to doctors to watch out for the severe potential complications from a simple sore throat. Hopefully you will get a full recovery surrounded by the end and I'm sure your doctor wont craft the same mistake again.
I individually believe that they are over prescribed...however I also believe that if you are a patient beside worsening symptoms, and you go hindmost to the doctor, they should research further and see what is going on. It sounds like your doctor wrote you past its sell-by date immediately as only just having a "fruitless sore throat" and didn't give it a second thought. So I also believe that patients are recurrently underestimated.
