Part Two: Is it worth it, individual a EMT. EMT's PLEASE READ?
Answer:
You stipulation a good class where on earth you can practice with other population. Remember there is a State Practical license exam so you need to do hand on training. I didn't read the other question so I am not sure why you want an online course. My course be two days per week for 8 months. The volunteering will be good because they can give support to you practice. I am surprised you don't just help yourself to the same class where on earth the guys at the local EMT station took theirs. That is what most people do.
With any course you are going to be doing an incredible amount of reading.
A classroom course might provide you a better opportunity to learn and hear around real world experiences. A classroom might be more up to date on what the State expects you to know.
In our course we did two ride-a-longs. We witnessed two live births. We help in the emergency rooms. We go to poison control for 4 hours. We went to the morgue as a class. Sadly one of the students saw her Uncle comatose in the morgue.
In my experience, I swot better when I do it for real. My program within college had profusely of computer simulations about lots different things. When I learned how to insert chest tubes during a computer simulation, I really don't mull over I learned satisfactory about it to do it for valid. That prospect is very startling to me.
I tried to watch/try everything that I was allowed to, when I be a respiratory student. In hindsight, self fascinated by arterial blood gas draws seems silly, but I am pretty right at them now. Doing something yourself or watching someone else in fact do it was more potent than doing a computer simulation, in my belief. In addition, I found that computer simulations have a certain route that they wanted to play. Sometimes I would own to repeat programs because I was anticipating things ahead of time, faster than the program required me to.
Your going to have copious questions, and your classmates will ask question as well. I go wrong to understand ho an online class can compete near a tradition classroom environment.
All of the EMTs I've known single earn between $10 and $15 per hour. Awfully low wages for saving lives or scrape someone off the street. I'd vote no, it isn't worth it.
