Rx symbol for once a light of day?
Answer:
it is written as OD which means once a morning.. But in practice, when a doctor writes prescriptions, he or she should not abbreviate the dosage of the medication...like OD or TID. It should be written contained by exact words which patients could understand.
QD
IT MEANS TAKE THIS
QD=once a light of day
BID=twice a day
TID= three times a daylight
QID= four times a day
QD= embezzle once daily
Despite a popular misconception lately it is NOT QD. This monstrosity be invented by people who never have to suffer through Latin class in Jr. high/high arts school, and don't know the difference between a "quod" and a "quinque." They were qualified, erroneously, that "Q means every," and took it at frontage value.
It used to be o.d. (omni diem), not to be confused next to O.D. (oculi dexter), but it doesn't matter, because presently everybody's insisting that "daily" be written out.
no its actually the doctors prescription..
qd
QD. But this short form is being avoided to prevent errors, especially contained by the hospital setting. It is one of the abbreviations that shouldn't be used according to the Joint Commission (who give accreditation to hospitals). Now, Qday or daily is used.
