My brother have headache surrounded by his foot (the lateral member of it). The foot is bumpy and red.?

The X-ray showed infection. However there is no any skin breakdown or score. What could have cause infection? What's going on?
He is on antibiotics now. What are other possible treatments?

Answers:    you don't requirement an open cut. sometimes only a microscopic breakdown in the skin's integrity can be plenty to introduce the bacteria. as long as it's responding to the antibiotics (probably cephalexin, right?) i wouldn't verbs about it.
probably its a baggage of osteomyelitis. he's right, a very small break within the skin can introduce bacteria. no other route of treating it than antibiotics..
