Foot disorder can be treated by an Md or a podiatrist? true or false?

Answer:
True - although some disorders are more commonly handled by a podiatrist.

A general family MD may treat an infection of the foot for example and an orthopedic surgeon may treat a bunion or plantar fasciitis. These doctors also treat other body parts.

Podiatrists only treat feet and focus on mobility and function. They also treat foot pain and infections and problems of foot skin and nails. Podiatrists do work with other heatlhcare providers.
Both.
An Md THINKS that he or she knows what is best BUT they are not all ways corrects SO go to the podiatrist, I had an infected toe and i went to my doctor, he tried but he did not fix it. a couple months later it came back so i went to the podiatrist and he fixed it CPRRECTLY!!
Usually can be treated by either. Many primary care physicians can treat simple foot disorders; more complicated things are generally referred to either an orthopedic foot/ankle specialist (MD) or a podiatrist. Both are trained in diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot and ankle. One area in which I think physicians surpass podiatrists is in the area of infectious diseases of the foot and ankle (including cellulitis, septic joints, and osteomyelitis); while podiatrists are quite skilled in the anatomic/surgical issues, they lack the training in pharmacology that MDs recieve.

A comment to the person who said that MDs "think" they know how to treat foot disorders... I disagree with you... most MDs would prefer to refer difficult cases on to either an orthopod or a podiatrist.
