I'm have hip replacement surgery within 8 weeks, will I still be capable of ski afterwards?

I understand that some doctors are allowing their patients to downhill ski when everything have healed. A response from anybody beside any experiance in this would be appreciated.
Thank you

Answers:    I've have both hips replaced. You are correct that there are surgeons who might influence "ok" to downhill skiing., There are probably just as several or more who would not recommend this or any other high-impact activity. The reason range from the possibility of a devastating injury from a spill out to the caution against adjectives in high-impact commotion (no moguls).

Best thing for you to do is hold a little chat near your surgeon now so that you and he know your expectations and his recommendation regarding post-op stir.

The reality: you will find some hip replacement patients who do absorb in such comings and goings - even jogging and singles tennis, I don`t know against medical advice. Not frequent perhaps, but they're out here.

The down side involves issues about shortening the duration of your prosthesis. The younger the patient, the more this matter. Movement causes wear and wear lead to the need for revision surgery which isn't as successful as primary hip replacement. The conception is to keep your copy hip as long as possible, ideally to have it outlast you. The younger you are, the tougher that become. (BTW, you didn't give your age but some consider anything below 60 "young" for a hip replacement).

Another factor that may come into play: the bearing objects used. Metal/metal or ceramic/ceramic may wear less than metal/poly. Find out what is individual used for you.
