Not specific memories, but adequate to blank out a day or a few... Or is that contained by the realm of SF?

there's plenty of drugs that have amnestic effects- substance you won't remember anything that happened while those drugs be in effect. however, they won't annihilate memories which have already occur.
drugs such as benzodiazepines will do it. midazolam or versed in out of the ordinary is known for it's amnestic hustle and bustle. ativan or valium can also do it.
scopolamine can also cause amnesia.
