Im researching on a possible topical hemostatic, what test should i use and what animal models should i use?

i've read to use Wistar rats, but can i use Sprague-Dawley rats instead?

Answer:
I must confess to complete ignorance about the haematology of rats.

I can't see how their blood clotting would be at variance.

The important interview is how similar is their haemostasis to that of humans.

Then secondary question arise such as:
cost (purchase price and ongoing costs - housing, feeding, etc)
quantity readily obtainable (and quantity needed)
ease of handling
