Weaning stale Prednisone ADVICE.?

Ok so I started out on two 20mg of prednisone a day.So I be on 40mg all together. I go to my lung specialist on Tuesday and he says I am aloud to step off the medication but I have to wean first. I enjoy been on prednisone for roughly speaking a 3 weeks to a month now. My doc told me to start taking 1 20mg pill a daylight for a few days and then bring half a pill later none. So my question is do I give somebody a lift just the one pill for 3 days or 4 or what? He said I might know how to start taking just partially a pill after 2 days but I read you can have bleak side affects from getting off of the prednisone too nippy so I am a little panicky to just stir down to half a pill so soon. It have already been 2 days that I hold been taking 1 pill a light of day so should I take it for two more days and consequently go down to partly a pill or just travel to half a pill today? Any one beside any experience in this nouns would be greatly appreciated. Everyone is welcome to comment near sincere advice with the sole purpose please. Thanks so much in finance for any answers.

Answer:
It depends entirely on how long you have be taking the 20mg twice a day.

I don't know specific contraction rules off the top of my leader, but if you have be on them for more than a few months I would call a pharmacist to ask for a second evaluation. Dropping a whole 30mg surrounded by only 4 days is probably pushing it.

Better undisruptive than sorry, just give the name a pharmacy that will actually check for you and not articulate "do what you doctor says." If it is different from what your doctor said appointment and ask him about it.
If you own been on the medication this long and hold either predetermined side effects to no side effects, especially "mood" shifts, then I can't get the drift what the problem would be to follow directions given by the Doctor. There is a good drive for doing what they ask and even though we as patients are not treated as though we know anything at all (I never consent to on as to what my level of education is) we do what we need to do to achieve well. So aside from the few second of time needed to take your pill, it can't be that much of a treaty to do as you are asked, unless the side effects are a real issue. If you can not tolerate it an alternative minute (or a few days) ask your Doc to substitute your med with something else or lately to get rotten with his monitoring you for a moment closer.
Were you on the 40 mg/day dose for months, you couldn't taper so quickly. Were you on it for singular a week or ten days, there would be little sense to taper at all. At the separating stage, it's anybody's guess whether and now much you've suppressed your majority hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, but your pulmonologist has taken a logical guess based on relatively a bit of experience, since pulmonologists are doing this all the time.
They seem to be to have have you on a very lofty dose rate, 40 mg is high! As they suppress inflammation I assume they identified the problem and are contented for you to come off them. As you enjoy only be on a short time later it may be OK but I would think a longer taper would be better as otherwise you may win some mood swings.
I have be on the wretched things a year and it is a real slow action getting down now as if I drop too much I feel a definite hit on well self and mood.
