So...sphygmomanometer - measurer of pulse pressure (which, of course, surrounded by medical-ese means specifically the difference between systolic, or summit, pressure and diastolic, or lowest, pressure measured).
The stethoscope is necessary to auscultate (or hear) the change in sounds as blood is initially allowed to flow through the blood vessel as pressure surrounded by the sphygmomanometer falls (correlating with systolic pressure) and after as the character of the nouns changes as the blood flows more and more well as the pressure in the sphygmomanometer falls further. If taking blood pressure manually, both instruments are mandatory.
It's called a "blood pressure monitor." A stethoscope doesn't cart blood pressure, it measures your heartbeat.
