I am taking medicine NEURONTIN it says on bottle to wear a medical bracelet can anyone tell me why?
Answer:
never been told that a patient taking this drug should wear a medic alert bracelet because of the drug. my father takes this medication for diabetic neauropathy and has never been told to wear a bracelet. Perhaps it is a warning to wear a bracelet for the diabetic aspect?? I have no other idea. incidentally, this med has done wonders for the pain, stinging and burning he was experiencing in his feet and legs as the result of his diabetes. Good luck
I still find it amazing that with a computer at your fingertips, you still don't know what is in what you are taking. Look it up! I'm sure the FDA have a sound reason for posting a warning to wear an alert bracelet. You should keep yourself in the know of what you are putting in your body. Obviously Neurontin has some serious side affects. Be smart. Know what you're taking.
my mother took this drug and they told her if she stops taking it clod turkey she could have a seizure. It has also caused her memory probs..just a few things I know about the drug.
Neurontin is a medicine used for patients who have seizures. The medical bracelet would only be necessary if THAT is the reason you are taking this medication, you may also be taking it as an antidepressant/psychotic for which of course, you would not need a medical bracelet. It has nothing to do with the medicine itself--it's the CONDITION of seizures that they would want you to wear a bracelet.
In the US I have taken this drug for years and have never heard a med alert redommended. Neurologists use it extensively as do psychiatrists. A epileptic should wear a warning, but not not for this medicine.
