Chiropractor: Are X-rays required?
Answers: first of i am not a chiropractor, but i hace a B.S. surrounded by millecular and cell biology and am halfway through my D.C.(doctorate of chiropractic)
first bad xrays are always needed if near is serious trauma like a motor wreck. also some medical conditions can have complications down syndrome patients almost other have a week transverse ligament of the atlas. so contained by some cases they are always important.
on an xray you can't see a bone out of place. if you can its dislocated and wishes to be set not adjusted. im guessing any this guy went to university in canada or have been contained by practice since the 1960s.
it used to be believed that bones were inappropriate and impinging nerves cause problems that chiros could fix. thanks to mris ct scan microscopic cameras and such we can see this isnt the case. it is more a concern of restrictions forming and inhibiting movement. adjustments free these and allow common function.
also adjustments can wreak the small nerves of joints to fire and inhibit cramp, over time raising the threshold obligatory for pain to be feel.
finally these nerve firings can stimulate the immune system or a mixture of organs. still not because of bone movement.
as to what isnt right and how you know. first a detailed history is taken, patients fill out a form mark where they hurt and how(ache, stabbing, numbness, etc). next the doctor palpates(feels around) for restrictions and sore spots. all of this is considered near the reason for the call in to determine what will be done. at most schools the first two expressions have palpation classes that prepare you to see what is normal or nonstandard. i remember having guests come beside spina bifida, scoliosis, and other problems for us to learn to recgonize.
so while your guest may have be a bit outdated in his reasoning likelihood are his techinique is fine. if you have other question: txchiro.edu should be a good source to start looking. hope this help.
