In general, nation apply for neurosurgery in the second year of medical school. Although the first year is usually a common surgery internship, in most cases it's at matching institution as the rest of the neurosurgery residency and is seamlessly connected to the neurosurgery residency. The duration varies. I devise the bare minimum is 5 years, but plentiful will have some research component, normally stretching the total time to seven years.
