I've been within the ER several times (for the same issue) and get either IV morphine or dilaudid (depending on, and the itching seem to be almost non-existent. Are any other opioids that my doctor could give me, that would build me less itchy/not itchy)? I've tried taking antihistimines (such as benedryl and phenergan) and it doesn't come across to do anything to prevent it.
Is there something in the order of morphine that keeps you from getting itchy, or be it because they give anti-nausea medication [an antihistamine] at equal time as the opiate that I wasn't bothered.
Are there any other opioids that wouldn't be so annoying? I'm have surgery in a couple of days and really want to enjoy a non-itchy pain med to purloin while recovering at home.
