Neurosurgery?

In Neurosurgery 6 year residency, which year does the resident get to do hand on Neurological Surgery?
What year do they get to do Surgery short supervision of a Neurosurgeon? Are they considered Neurosurgeons once they enter the residency or after the residency is over?


Answers:    During the course of a residency, the resident gets to do more and more respectively year. Interns (1st year) don't do too much, but even they get to do something.
A neurosurgeon within his or her last year of training is call a Chief Resident. Although they have to be overall supervised by an attending (staff) surgeon, they do everything.
