Answer:
I work on a Foundation Course at a primary University that does medicine. I dont assume you'd get a place on pills at any university via clearing, its just approach too competitive, people hold to apply v early within October of the year before they preference to commence study to even be considered.
Our university dont tend to consider applicants who hold had to resit their a-levels to acheive the vital grades, due to the amount of choice they already have of other students, but this wont be the shield for all unis, it would be a valise of ringing departments and asking! Nor does our medicine course allow students to verbs onto theircourse as it is usually completely full and couldnt accomodate any students coming onto it frm other degrees, and its def out if you've already be rejected frm that department.
There are courses that provide access to medicine and foundation courses if truth be told ran at the university that do donate a possibility of progressing to medicine, but ours for example dont transport students who have already done a-levels and not suceeded to attain the grades or have be rejected from our department. If you have the obligatory grades no access course would accept you any as theyre for people scarce qualifications and so would distribute you no benefit. Medcine is v competitive and there is much more they consider as all right as grades i.e. amount of experience in strength care settings such as shadowing GP, volunteering surrounded by care homes etc, amount of common voluntray exp such as working with a charity, commitment to studying pills, reasons fro wanting to study medication and your understanding of the profession. Look on unis webistes for hints what theyre looking for.
Postgard entry is drastically possible, many students at our uni do biomed degree or similar and then progress on to gain acceptance after completion of the point to study medicine even when previously rejected 3 years ahead of time. The degree give the science knowledge for those not relatively up to scatch in that track and shows commitment that you are ailling to take a amount and then apply to prescription, though i appreciate its an expensive option and one beside no guarantees.
Id say if you get the grades but were only just rejected, then increase condition care and standard voluntary exp, work on personal statement using hints from websites that tell you what tablets departments want i.e. the unis website, or google getting accepted to pills, also good prep for interview as most pills departments do interview, and apply early for 2008.
If you didnt obtain the grades but theyre good adequate for biology or biomed degree at a uni you can gain into this year then you coud try this path. Many people who did acquire the grades do also go onto to do a biology or biomed or similar point and then apply to drug as, as i said really cant emphasise enough the smooth of competition, and just getting the grades isnt ample. Dont give up if pills really is your dream!
