Hello I have a few more questions?

I realize now through the answers the room has given me what an MRI is, but what is the purpose of an EEG of the brain?

Answer:
EEG looks for unusual electrical activity in the brain. Many conditions of the brain produce consistent unusual readings in various parts of the brain, so the EEG is a strong tool for diagnosing brain injuries and other cerebral conditions.

An MRI will give a medical team information about the physical condition of the brain and the surrounding area but the EEG is a test that tells who it is functioning. An EEG would look like jagged lines on a strip of paper.
An EEG of the brain picks up brain wave signals from specific points in the brain to tell how it is functioning under specific conditions. It can, for instance, determine if someone is having epileptic seizures (at one point during the test they set off a strobe light). It can help assess stroke damage and other things like that.
It shows the amounts of different brain waves given off by the brain at rest, and makes a chart of them.
