There are copious different types of cysts - I'm going to assume you're asking about ovarian cysts. Much of the information below would apply to other cysts, too.
Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sac or pockets within or on the surface of an ovary. They typically crop up as the result of ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary) and are common within women of childbearing age (from puberty to menopause). Most cysts are normal and shrink over time, usually inwardly one to three months.
Cysts that develop due to normal ovulation are call functional cysts, because they are not related to disease. Other less adjectives types of ovarian cysts include dermoid cysts, cystadenoma cysts and endometrioma cysts. These abnormal ovarian cysts are usually benign, but they may require treatment.

cyst are usually tiny fluid packed sacs that are as a rule not really threatening. I have ovarian cysts and the doctor say its not really an issue unless there is an unusually huge one that would have to be removed by surgery. If you enjoy them on reproductive organs they are best detected with ultrasounds to see how severe it is. The cysts themselves aren't adjectives that bad for you but at hand could be underlying issues in some cases. Alot of women own a condition called PCOS poly cystic ovary syndrome which have other symptoms that are more serious and would need medical attention.
