Irregular period and starting Birth Control?

I'm 19, and my periods arent deeply regular. I received my pill pack today but I'm confused as to why I have to dawdle to start them. It may be hard because sometimes my length doesnt come for a couple months... Does anyone have any suggestions? Would it hurt me to start them this sunday?

Answer:
I only started mine whenever I wanted to. your time of year will just receive regular after about 3 months.

If your period are really irregular then only just start the pill whenever you want. Just remember to take the pill EVERYDAY at the SAME TIME everyday. that is to say the only approach they are effective.
you start them the first morning you get your term or the sunday after your period
If you aren't pregnant and there's no channel you could be - meaning you haven't be having sex since your later period, next you should call your doctor and bring up to date him/her you want to start the pills this Sunday. There's really no other reason why you would stipulation to wait, and most docs would prefer that their patients start the pill as soon as possible if here is a risk of unwanted pregnancy.
I'm 18 and I'm in duplicate situation. I got my pills within March, but because you have to lurk to start them, I only started 2 weeks ago! I'm not sexually moving, so I knew I wasn't pregnant.

I'd suggest purely waiting, even if it is for a few months, because you don't want to risk it. Obviously it's not a great situation, and you don't want to mess it up anymore.

Did you get "checked out" to draw from the pills? Since I'm not sexually active, my doctor a short time ago prescribed them without a drop by to the gyno. I got the pills when I be 17, but he said once I turned 18, after a year of being on the pill I should hold a check-up. Since you're a little elder than me, I'd suggest you go contained by for a visit if you haven't nonetheless. I hate audible range it as much as I hate motto it, but the irregular periods at your age may be a sign that something is wrong.

Good luck! Wait it out, I know it sucks, but better nontoxic than sorry.
Hey,
I'm 26 and have other had irregular period. Unfortunately going on birth control will only be a provisional fix. I went on them when I get married a few years back...and freshly went sour this past September surrounded by hopes of conceiving. My hormones were WAY rotten wack and had to rob a medicine (Prometrium)to go and get them back on track.

Being on birth control is one and only a "temporary" fix. My doctor always recommend Prometrium for those who are younger and need to serve regulate their cycles. You take this for around ten days each month and your interval comes a few days after. This really got me on track past I went on birth control...and I even get into a somewhat normal cycle!

I really yearning I knew that birth control wasn't really an end-all solution. If you want to own children some day...down the road...consider using a pills like Prometrium (ask your doctor) and that will procure you into a nice normal cycle.=)

If you do desire to start the birth control.you don't really need to start on a convinced day within your cycle. I always took them on Sunday...so I'd hold the "Sunday start" cycle. It is nice in giving you a nice usual cycle...just be aware that when you travel off it won't stay that means of access unforunately.

If you're going on them for the purpose of "protection" I'd consider using something other than "the pill". Just for your sake down the road. =)

Hope this help!
