first the doctor will come in and pocket your medical history. then he or she will step out of the room to hold you undress and put on a gown. the doctor will perform a breast exam and a pelvic exam. the pelvic exam is perform using what is called a speculum. the speculum is inserted into your vagina to fashion it easier for the doc to see your cervix and any vaginal abnormalities. while the speculum is within place you may feel some pressure, but if you relax you should grain little or no pain. the doctor will collect sample to check for a PAP smear and STDs using a sterile cotton swab and a little soft plastic brush. after that the doc will remove the speculum and do what's call a manual exam. he or she will place 2 fingers inside your vagina to check your ovaries, cervix, and uterus. after that you're done. it's a totally quick exam -- smaller quantity than 5 minutes usually.
