My girlfriend have shortened Achilles tendons from dignified heels. What presently?
So, I took her to a podiatrist just this minute and he confirmed that her Achilles tendons are shortened. He recommended surgery.
So here are the options:
1. Surgery to re-lengthen her tendons. (Doctor's preference)
2. Other cathartic methods? Would massage or gradual stretching work? How roughly speaking acupuncture? This is MY preference, as I want my girlfriend to know how to walk in general but don't like the nouns of surgery.
3. Or keep things as they are. This is HER nouns - she argues that she feels "good" surrounded by high heels and "comfortable" tiptoeing barefoot, and she doesn't want to wear flat shoes... ever.
What is your suggestion?

I enjoy the same problem. Since I be probably around 13, i've always have a tendancy to walk on my toes and feel very self-conscious in flat shoes. Doctors hold said that for whatever drive my tendons in the final of the legs didn't grow like it should own and it is short.
They've tried several different methods to get the ligament to stretch and nothing really seem to do much good. Im refuse to do surgery. From what doctors have described surrounded by my situation, it is very complicated surgery and I consistency that it would just screw my legs up more than they already are.
I wear illustrious heels practically all the time and am thoroughly comfortable. They feel fluent to me.
It is her decision. She can try other methods and see if they work for her, but I dont reccomend the surgery.
number 2. my sister have the same problem from other walking around on her toes as a child, and she worked them back down so she could step flat-footed
if you love her, then love her the mode she is... or in this overnight case the way she prefers...
I can't answer your put somebody through the mill, but I think you may enjoy answered mine. I'm the same course as your girlfriend. I walk on tip-toe when I'm barefoot, and if I don't it feel really weird. Of course, I've walk on my toes since I was a child.
I'd vote keep things the track they are. Like I said, I'm the same course, and have never thought of it as a problem past.
I actually don't deduce you should keep things the style they are. Her shortened Achilles tendons could cause problems when she get a lot elder. I really think you should try your second choice, the therapeutic methods and such. Just remember to ask your doctor nearly them because he may have guidance as to what would work or not. I wouldn't do the surgery though. That just sounds uncomfortable and risky.
I wouldn't do the surgery. Not only might it not work but it could bring in it worse or cause other problems.
The solitary time you ever want to do surgery is in an emergency or to correct a key problem.
one of these days she will want to wear flat shoes - youth doesn't closing..
i would suggest stretching and massage. she could still wear the heels..

I'd be concerned going on for her calves, tendons (esp. the Achilles) and general posture. When we're standing next to our feet flat on the floor, our entire skeleton is within alignment; knees, pelvis, back. When we're wearing big heels or walking tip-toe, the knees come forward a little, the posterior arches slightly... that can cause trouble surrounded by long-term for her joints. That it doesn't bother her immediately, at 20, doesn't mean at hand isn't any long-term damage individual done!
I can't say whether I'd be in motion for the surgery though, I don't know what the risks are, how long she'll be off her foot completely, etc... I'm not sure if stretching would work, she'd have to stop wearing illustrious heels for sure (at least wear them far less).
In the terminate it's her decision, but I'd really recommend her against just continuing the approach things are. Long-term damage doesn't hold to hurt while it's happening, that she feel fine doesn't mean she's not slowly wearing out her joint & back. By the time it starts to hurt, the harmed is already much greater, and may be irreversible. I know several still quite childlike & middle-aged people who own a bad rear legs (for other reasons, mostly lifting filling stuff -but what is the same is that it didn't hurt right away, they thought they be fine too. they didn't 'throw their back' all at once but it be slow wear & tear that did it). It's not fun!
Tell her to sit down beside her feet flat on the floor for a while to grasp used to it. Then, tell her to hoof it barefoot for a while to see if that helps.
